Dearborn Scouts in Government Day

(Requires prior attendance at City Council meeting, on 03/??/07 for nominations, permission slip, and

requirements for Citizenship in the Community merit badge)

 

Who Can Attend?

Residents of Dearborn only, that are registered in Dearborn Troops.

 

A Joint partnership between the

City of Dearborn and Three Rivers District

 

Structure: This Half-day event, will be a fully structured day with individual time for each scout, to get one on one time with selected City Officials. You will get hands-on feel for how the city is run. The Mayor, a Judge, and a Council member will be on hand to speak to all the scouts before being split up to “run” the city. All requirements for Citizenship in the Community merit badge will be covered.

Voting: Being brought back this year, by the City Clerk, we will have the use of the voting machines. On March 6 th, you as the scouts will nominate each other to “run” for Mayor, Judge, Clerk, and Council Member. Then on the morning of the event, you will “vote” for each of the elected officials. The scouts “elected” will spend time with their respected officials.

Lunch: After the Half day of events, Lunch will follow at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, which will be sponsored by Dearborn Federal Savings Bank

Sign up: This event is only open to the first 30 Scouts. The City needs a head count by February 4 th, 2007. Deadline to sign up with the district is February 1 st, 2007. No last minute sign-ups on city council night.
