SCOUT'S HONOR: It's a dirty job, but someone had to do it. The Boy Scouts and their troop leaders once again were out in force -- and in full-kerchiefed uniforms -- carting trash on maintenance vehicles during the tournament. For their efforts, the Scouts kept the recycling they collected and received passes to the tournament.

You can find the story here.

July 9 - 16, 2006

For 17 years the Detroit Area Council has provided community service to the PGA Tour. Troop 1131 has been involved with DAC and the PGA Tour for the entire 17 years. Our main goal is to keep the course clean of litter and trash. We have had our worked compared to that of Disney World. Our capacity at the course is that of volunteer. We work for the Ecology department. We are responsible to collect the trash around the course. in addition we keep the concession stands free of trash, and empty boxes. We make sure that everything is clean. In return for our efforts, we get to watch and meet the pro-golfers. Monatary rewards are small, but we do get to keep all of the returnable cans.
