The Troop Needs help in the following areas

Popcorn Sale Coordinator:
Mr. Gene Smith has had to handle this recently. This is an easy one for someone to take over as it is a short term commitment.

Training/registration: None required.

Uniform: None required.

Skills & requirements: Organizational skills and a couple hours a week over a few weeks. You'll distribute pre-prepared popcorn flier to the boys and communicate the timeline. You'll coordinate the popcorn pre-order pickup and distribution. You'll take in the order forms from the boys and compile the  remaining order. You'll need to check over the forms to assure they are accurate and complete. You'll coordinate the popcorn final pickup and distribution. , receive the money and pass it to the treasurer along with a final recap for the treasurer and committee. Ideally this person would contact a local establishment to obtain permission to sell popcorn outside their doors and schedule the boys to participate. However for this year, its probably too late for this.

Troop Committee

The troop committee supports the troop and the Scoutmaster. Although the troop is actually run by its boy leaders, its effectiveness is directly proportional to the guidance provided by the committee. The troop committee is responsible for the following:

Ø        Providing adequate meeting facilities.

Ø        Advising the Scoutmaster on policies relating to Boy Scouting and the chartered organization.

Ø        Carrying out the policies and regulations of the Boy Scouts of America.

Ø        Encouraging the troop leaders in carrying out the program.

Ø        Finances, adequate funds, and disbursements in line with the approved budget plan.

Ø        Obtaining, maintaining, and properly caring for troop property.

Ø        Providing adequate camping and outdoor programs.

Assuring that quality leadership is recruited and trained, and that a qualified substitute is assigned in the event of the Scoutmaster’s absence.   The troop committee has a formal structure, consisting of a chairman, treasurer, secretary, and other positions as deemed necessary by the committee. The committee meets monthly, and must consist of at least three adults, age 21 or older.   All parents are invited to join and participate in the committee.
